A Good Weekend!

So I believe the fog has finally broken (although I am still doing really silly stuff). I think that we have the babies sleeping through the night. Or at least for the past few nights - for the most part. They only occassionally start to stir and require a repositioning of the paci. I will still feed Maggie if she wants just because I want her to have as many calories as possible. It is all about routine and now that we have a bedtime ritual set, I think that we are good to go!

I was able to go out with the girls on Friday night to celebrate Shipley's birthday. It was a night full of Mexican food, laughs and then some live music...my kind of night! It lasted a little longer than I expected but Aaron did great with the babies. Although, he states that I pick up the babies entirely too soon when they start to cry - when I got home, he had had Wylie on his chest since 10:00 because he was a little fussy. I wish he would do a whole night by himself and see how long he could stand letting them "cry a little more!" I don't think he would/could do it...he is a bigger softy than I am with these babies :)

Saturday was pretty quiet. Maggie rolled over for the first time! Since her head is becoming kind of flat in the back, I started putting her on her stomach as much as possible. I put her down and then about ten minutes later, she began screaming. I raced into the nursery to find her laying on her back! I think it terrified her!!!

Sunday I attended the funeral of the chaplain at hospice when I worked there as a social worker. Woody was such a gentle and kind person. I was really sad to hear that he had passed away. Unfortunately, only the "out crowd" of us that left after new management came in from Atlanta and a single current nurse attended. Shame on them...he was such a very important part of our mission and to our families. A pediatric family that we worked with did attend the service - it was so wonderful to see them again. This was only my second pediatric patient and the only one that we had for a good bit of time. It warmed my heart to see them and to hear how well they are doing despite such difficult times.

The babies are doing great. Katie and Wylie are almost up to 14lbs and little Maggie is coming in around 12lbs. They are up size 2 diapers and clothin in 6months. I can't believe how fast they change. It is becoming difficult for me to remember when they were teeny tiny. I HAVE to call the photographer and get some professional pics done soon...on my list to call today!

Hope everyone had as good a weekend as we did. Here are some recent pics :)

Too Tired for Pictures....

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. We had a good weekend and a great Valentines (roses AND a gc for a massage from hubby!)

Aaron had to go into the office and do some work today and I am home with the babies. Things were going really well until right at 5:30...then the gates opened up! Being completely clueless as to where to begin that would stop the chaos...I started to throw babies into the tub. This worked as long as they remained in the tub (albeit two were always left out and crying while sitting in front of Baby Einstein). Then I tried feeding all of them but was too late...they were beyond a stage where they could eat. When this routine ran its course and I still had not made any head way, I broke and went and knocked on a neighbors door to come help!!! Janet came over immediately and the two of us were able to get the babies calm and asleep. From beginning to end, this was about a 2 hours nightmare. Yikes...what happened to the days when you could hardly hear if the babies were crying? I used to think these sounds were cute! Not anymore!

So, I am too tired and not really that enthused to look through pictures to post from the weekend. Maybe tomorrow....

9:00 and I am off to bed!

Happy 4 Months!

Wylie

Maggie

Katie

Months really are flying by. Today I finally gathered a zip lock full of pictures that I crammed together when we were told the babies would all be discharged out of Memorial in two days. My intentions were to label the back of each and place in an album. What ended up happening was that I found it difficult to identify which baby was who. Something I never dreamed would happen! They each have changed so much from those awful days in Savannah. They are no resemblance what so ever of those babies. These are not even pictures that I enjoy looking at any longer. I ended up putting them back in the bag in hopes that maybe Aaron will help me one day soon sort through them.

Although, I have to admit...these days are not much easier. I am so exhausted after their 5:00 witching hour that most nights I am dead asleep by 8:30. I wouldn't change a thing but I really had no idea how much work it takes to entertain and pacify three babies all day long. Mom and I continue to break out new toys to see if they work - even if it last half an hour, we call it a success. Our sun room is slowly being taken over with these huge, stationary things that require copious amounts of batteries and don't fit through doorways. Pacifiers are stashed in every swing, crib and bouncy that we own - and we still can never find one. Laundry is always in the dryer. Albeit, I have found a new positive habit of making our bed everyday - even if I don't find the time to shower, I will make our bed. I believe only because it feels so good to climb in after we get the babies to sleep!

Times are hard. I can't wait for them to be able to do more things that won't wear them out so easily. I look forward to days where we can all go to the playground and let them run. Or to take them out to the beach with shovels and pails. Or when we can walk down to the courthouse for lunch with Aaron. I know these days are right around the corner and I know that I will look back at this time with fond memories. But for now, it is just really tough.

It is 9:00 and I am ready for bed. But before I make it to our room, I will tiptoe into the nursery and look at these wonderful blessings that I prayed for many many nights this time last year and be grateful that I have them. Each is so very unique and special. As much as I feel down on myself sometimes, I really wouldn't have it any other way....

Quick Photos for my Sister!

With a recent request written in caps from my sister....here you go Beth! Love and miss you bunches!!!!

Playtime

Look at the eyelashes on Wylie...they actually curl up they are so long!!! What a handsome boy :)

Katie has really started getting a fun personality. She gets tickled easily...

Maggie also!

Cousin Sarah came over on Sunday to help out for a little while. She jumped right in - rotating between each baby. I bet she left exhausted!

After running some errands, I arrived back home to Mom telling me...."who doesn't know how to prop!"

Not much new to post about. Still trying to get the babies to sleep through the night. Haven't done it since that one Saturday night. Right now it seems to be about every six hours they wake up which I can't complain. If I time it right, I can get a little sleep here and there.

I battled a pretty nasty cold last week and now Aaron has it. Luckily the babies haven't caught anything (knock on wood!)

Other than that, business as usual...LOVING on these babies as much as they will stand it!!!!!

How Quickly We Adjust!

My Mom and her friend Susan Dubs have taken the babies for a walk leaving me about an hour to myself. How strange it feels! I am finding myself still tiptoeing around the house or hesitating to crumple up old wrapping paper! Our lives have certainly changed. With them out of the house, even for just a mere hour, makes things feel so vacant, empty. They are so much a part of me now. I can't imagine anything better....I hope they hurry back.

Here is a little playtime...I think I know who the boss is going to be! Look at those chunky legs!!!!

Poor Maggie - and she is the oldest!

They Slept Through the Night!

Yippeee! So perhaps this is the light (or maybe a fluke but I am hopeful!) We have been feeding them around the clock during the day trying to fill them up so they won't be hungry at night. They dropped the midnight feeding really quickly and have only been getting up around 2-3 a.m. for a dreamfeed. Well, last night I fed them at 8 p.m., lotioned them up, put in pjs on and down they went. Woke up this morning at 6 a.m. to them just beginning to stir! And then to make things even better....Aaron went ahead and got up. When I climbed out of bed at 7, this is what I found....

He was in the nursery preparing for a hearing tomorrow. Everyone fed and quiet. It was great!

We also got some more stroller time this weekend. The weather has been great!

And finally just some more random pics. Aren't they growing!!!!

"Unusually Chunky"

OK...so I'm learning! After worrying all weekend about Maggie not growing, I take her to the doctor. Diagnosis: She is not small but instead the other two are "unusually chunky!" How could he tell me that without laughing!!!! I felt like such an amatuar loading her up and taking her in for that tidbit :) I guess next visit will be why the other two are growing so fast!!! Anyway...just a quick note to let everyone know she is fine - more than fine, she is absolutely normal!

Now that all three are down for a few hours, I am turning off the computer and heading into the sunroom to relax and wait for the season premiere of Lost!

Goodnight!
