THE Best Weekend EVER - Tybee Island, GA
After a pretty rough week for Aaron and our good friend Dante, we all decided to head down to Tybee Island for Saturday night. What was meant to be a night of relaxing while listening to the ocean - turned out to be one of the most fabulous weekends we have had in a long time!
After we arrived at the condo and got settled in, we took the babies down to the beach so that they (and especially Katie who LOVES LOVES LOVES birds!) could see all the seagulls. This was something I used to do when I was little and nothing much has changed. Hundreds will flock to you if you have some sort of bread to offer. Katie was beside herself with the excitement! Unfortunately, we walked out without a coat for poor Wylie. Dante did an excellent job keeping him bundled though.
Maggie was more interested in playing with the sand...my little beach baby!
Getting kind of cold and time for dinner!
Next stop is a tourist trap called "Crab Shack." Lots of fun though with live alligators, christmas lights hanging everywhere and very noisey! Babies did great!
After dinner, we headed back to the condo where the babies went down fairly easy. Those PeaPods are wonderful travel beds and the kids do great in them. Aaron, Dante and I stayed up past 1a.m. playing Scrabble. Some of the highlights...."dig" "thine" and "ox." Big points!!!
That morning everyone woke up to a beautiful sunrise outside the doors and Sweet 16 donuts for breakfast...a Tybee tradition started when the babies were born :)
Daddy and Katie-Bug feeding the birds from the balcony
Tybee is still relatively undiscovered with lots of beach cottages still existing (unlike our beach where things exploded over the past 20 years. They still have cute shopping and fun open air restaurants. This was Dante's first trip and I think we have a new #1 fan. It such a unique spot on our coast...
Walking around the main street
Wylie is "SOOOO BIG!"
Time for lunch! On our way in, we spotted a new little walk up Cuban restaurant that we decided to try out. It was WONDERFUL!!!! Plus, it has a great little fenced in area in the back with picnic tables and room for the babies to run around....can you say PERFECT!
A little game of horseshoes anyone?
One of the sweetest moment came after lunch while shopping in Chu's - a local tourist shop that has a little of EVERYTHING! I was holding Wylie when Dante and Maggie came and tapped me on the shoulder. Maggie was wearing this little purple bucket hat and Dante says...."she told me that she wanted this. Is it OK?" Of course it was and Uncle Dante bought it for her. She sported it the rest of the time we were there....she loves wearing hats! It is the cutest thing....you can tell when she has one on, she feels so proud. I love it!
It was such a beautiful day that we decided to head down to the sand. The babies played, watched the volleyball players and just had a good time.
There was a family down the beach a little bit that was flying a kite. Aaron couldn't stand it! Back up to Chu's he went to find one for us. I can't tell you the last time I flew a kite!
Afterwards, it was time to head home. We packed up the car and off we went. Getting home in time for baths and bed. Aaron and I both slept like rocks!
Again, one of the best weekends ever! I can't wait till this summer!!!

Oh No!
My sweet little Maggie bit Wylie this morning! I have never seen her show any signs of aggravation like that....how can I curb this immediately? Two out of three now!

How Cute!!!
So this morning, two breakthroughs happened....
First, I was watching Wylie play with the cardboard bricks that he got for Christmas. Up until this point, it has just been for daddy or me to build and let him knock down (followed by a "HOORAY" of course!). What does he do this morning? I look over and he has stacked two bricks with a Lego placed stratigically on top! This may seem really minor to anyone but me, but I just thought it was the cutest thing ever...his first fort! Of course, as soon as he saw how happy this made me, he immediately knocked it down, started clapping and waited for his YAAAY!
Then....Maggie just proves over and over how she is the caregiver of the group. I was feeding them breakfast this morning in the playroom. They seem to eat better in there but it does require us following them around a little to get them to eat. As I was trying to coax Katie to eat another bite, here comes Maggles with a cracker in her hand. She walks (and Yes, walking is no big deal to her at this point!) over to Katie and gently puts the cracker in Katie's mouth. Katie thought this was the funniest thing ever and the two just continued their game for quite a bit of time. One less thing for Mama to do I guess!
I think that we have really turned a corner with the babies. It seems that everyday, they all learn something new. Katie does this hilarious routine where she is learning to stand from sitting - over and over, she puts her behind in the air and pushes herself up. Wylie is getting pretty good at walking these days, although, Maggie takes the cake on getting around on two feet.
Individual Things Right Now:
Maggie loves playing "This Little Piggie." She has started to point at things. Always will share toys with whoever grabs them out of her hand. Loves when Wylie pushes her around in the Cozy Coupe. Will open and climb in any drawer that she can. Is still the smallest of the three.
Katie loves when her Daddy gets home. Is our animal lover. Can keep herself busy forever with books. Is the best pointer. Has the largest vocabulary (DaDa-Dad, Bah-bird, MMMM-hungry, Ba-bath, PaPa-apple) Has a bad habit of biting these days. Is Grandmama's girl.
Wylie is still pretty attached to me but is getting a bit better. Loves to climb on the table. Can play a game of back and forth ball really well. Is my best sleeper and eater. Says Mama all the time. Beginning to show interest in books. He, overall, is just a sweet baby.
We have had some really nice weather lately so everyone has had a lot of outdoor time on the new deck. I have started to exercise by walking with a couple of girls I know...If I could only talk Aaron into that gym membership though! OK...enough rambling!
(I would attach pictures but am on the wrong computer. Will try to download some tonight)

Sorry about the new privacy setup
Due to some recent activities in other mom's blogs, I have decided to make ours private for awhile. There have been more than one occurance where people steal pictures and create their own "family blog." It just creeps me out...

2 out of 3....Wylie is Walking!!!
When things start to happen, they happen fast! Last night, Wylie just decided to let go of the table and take off! Literally, he walked probably 7 steps before falling. I watched with my jaw wide open!!! I guess he couldn't let little Maggie get too far ahead of him :)
